Semi-Detached Loft Conversion, Wimbledon SW19

Wimbledon, London (SW19)

The brief

Two families, each owning one half of a pair of semi-detached homes on a Wimbledon street, both wanted to add a floor. Working together turned a constraint into an advantage. Because both halves went ahead at the same time, we could raise the entire roof as one, rather than each side building awkwardly against a shared party wall. It took both owners agreeing to proceed, and the result was something most loft conversions can’t offer.

What we did

We carried out a full roof-off conversion across both properties as a single coordinated project. The existing roof was removed and new floors, engineered and built in our North Yorkshire factory, were craned into place across the pair. Because both sides were done together, there was no need to build up a gable party wall between them, the whole new roofline was formed in one go.

Each home gained around 63 sqm of new space, three new rooms and a bathroom, with rear dormers, a glazed Juliet balcony, new staircases, full electrics and heating. The work ran on fixed-price Moduloft contracts, with planning, building control approvals and structural engineering all included, coordinated so both families went through the build together rather than enduring two separate disruptive projects.

The Results

Two transformed homes and a cleanly raised roofline across the whole pair, delivered in one coordinated build. Six new rooms across the two properties, each family gaining the space of a far larger house without leaving the street they love, and a finish that reads as one considered design rather than two separate add-ons.
