The brief

A family in a character home on the edge of Bromley wanted to add serious space, enough for four proper bedroom suites, without losing the look of the house or spending months under a traditional site build. The challenge was to add a large new floor while keeping the home’s suburban-cottage character, with cladding and dormers that sat naturally against the existing style.

What we did

We carried out a full roof-off loft conversion, removing the existing roof and adding a new 66 sqm floor engineered and built in our North Yorkshire factory, then craned into place. The new storey was finished to match the character of the home: cat-slide dormers to each side, hanging tile and composite weatherboard cladding to the gables and dormer cheeks, concrete interlocking roof tiles, and anthracite-grey aluminium windows.

Inside, we created four double bedrooms, each with its own en-suite, served by a new double-winding staircase. The work included reconfiguring the existing first-floor bathroom to make room for the new stair, then fully making good. Full electrics, heating, planning and building control were all part of the single fixed-price contract.

The result

A house transformed into a genuine four-suite family home, with a new top floor that looks like it belongs, delivered with factory precision and a fraction of the disruption of a conventional build. Standout proof that a modular conversion can add real scale, not just a single room.
