Rishi Sunak Marvels at Our Modular Construction Innovation

In late July, former Prime Minister Rishi Sunak toured Moduloft’s factory and walked through our process with our then Managing Director, Christian Evans (now company owner), as well as senior managers, staff, and our apprentices. He left ‘hugely impressed’ by our ‘innovative concept, which has enormous potential to create more homes without eating up more greenfield land.’

Keep reading for more details about Mr Sunak’s visit and the lasting impact we created.

Sunak’s Trip to Moduloft

Intrigued by our efforts to boost the UK’s housing options, and being a proudly North Yorkshire company, Mr Sunak visited us to better understand how our modular building system works.

We explained and demonstrated that we operate a precision-engineered, factory-built system tailored to meet a client’s specific requirements. Whether that be adding building capacity to social housing, offices and other commercial buildings or offering a non-invasive expansion option for residential properties, we showcased Moduloft’s potential to create space without extending a building’s footprint. We also explained that our patented build system has earned customers from all over the UK. For example, we are adding complete floors to apartment buildings in and around London through our development arm Moduliving, where there is often little else choice for engineering more space.

During his tour with us, he saw how our structures are built here, in Brompton on Swale, North Yorkshire, fully fitted with plastered walls, fitted floors, wiring, plumbing and fitted kitchens and bathrooms (if required). We explained that, once construction is complete, the project is transported by low-loader to the location where it is craned into place. At the time of his visit, we were working on a completely new floor for a home in Jersey, as we have expanded to complete projects in the Channel Islands. So, he was able to see our process in action.

His visit also came at an opportune time of strategic growth for us as we continue to develop our modular expertise to deliver projects across multiple sectors under our ModuGroup brands (residential, commercial, education, and healthcare), nationwide. We also highlighted our focus on scaling up our manufacturing capacity and expanding into new areas, including but not limited to airspace developments in major UK cities through Moduliving.

Why Sunak Admires Moduloft

Moduloft is a UK leader in volumetric modular construction, and we are expanding our portfolio using our patented approach for loft conversions, as well as for commercial properties and various other sectors. Our patented model was praised by Mr Sunak as innovative and full of potential, which, of course, we were pleased to hear.

We also guarantee our process is a seamless and efficient way to expand your living or commercial space without the hassle of traditional construction, which Mr Sunak also applauded.

At Moduloft, we especially pride ourselves on using premium materials to ensure every project is built to the highest standards. Mr Sunak, who was particularly impressed by the opportunity Moduloft presents to create more homes without the need for land space, understood how essential quality materials are for durability.

Lastly, Mr Sunak commended our apprenticeship programme: ‘I was also delighted to see [Moduloft] have a successful apprenticeship programme in place to develop the skills they need to continue growing in North Yorkshire.’ As a company with strong roots in the North, we actively work to recruit hard-working people who understand our mission.

We greatly appreciate the time Mr Sunak took to visit our factory and learn about Moduloft’s projects and goals. If you have any questions about our modular construction process, or would like to enquire about a loft conversion for your property, please don’t hesitate to get in touch. In the meantime, feel free to browse through our previous projects and get a feel for Moduloft’s quality projects.
